Gafar Alabi,
The Ogun Central Distinguished Educators have been charged to intensify efforts in the training and retraining of teachers, particularly in the area of technological compliance.
The distinguished educators, who had proven themselves well at both State and National educational competitions, were selected from the 6 Local Government Areas that made up Ogun Central Senatorial District, which included Abeokuta South, Abeokuta North, Odeda, Ewekoro, Ifo and Obafemi-Owode.
While receiving the group at the Board's Conference room, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, the Chairman of the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Evang. Olalekan Ifede, noted that addressing modern educational challenges without embracing technology was increasingly difficult, stressing that digital tools enhance efficiency and productivity in teaching and learning.
“You attained this level through discipline, self-development and consistent training. You must continue to support the training of our teachers, not only in technology but also in leadership and character development,” Ifede said.
The Chairman urged the group to extend its initiative to other senatorial districts of the State to enable more teachers benefit from their expertise. He also commended the 2025/2026 National Best Teacher, Ambassador Francis Solanke, for organising a recent handwriting training for teachers in Abeokuta North, describing the effort as commendable.
In his remarks, Permanent Member IV of the Board, Rt. Hon. Akeem Balogun, reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to ensuring that pupils in public primary schools across the State could read, write and communicate effectively.
He lauded the educators for their dedication to mentoring fellow teachers and assured them of continued support.
Speaking on behalf of the group, the 2024 Overall Best Teacher in Ogun State and Chairperson of the Planning Committee, Mrs. Omotayo Akintunde, said the educators came together with a shared commitment to strengthen teacher capacity, promote innovation and support quality education delivery across the State.
She noted that the initiative aligned with the education transformation agenda of Governor Dapo Abiodun and the leadership of the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu.
Akintunde, disclosed that the group had trained 88 public primary and secondary school portal administrators in Abeokuta South on OgunLEARN, over 100 in Odeda Local Government and 114 in Ifo Local Government.
She appealed to the Board to create more opportunities for direct, one-on-one teacher training, assuring that the initiative would be expanded to other zones while fostering innovation among teachers.
