Supreme Court Affirms Oyebanji’s APC Candidacy for Ekiti Governorship Election - The Alternative News

The Supreme Court of Nigeria has affirmed the nomination of Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the June 20 governorship election.

In a unanimous judgment delivered on Friday by a five-member panel, the apex court dismissed the appeal filed by party aspirant, Mrs. Abimbola Olawumi, describing it as lacking merit.

The ruling upheld the earlier decision of the Court of Appeal, which on June 18 validated Oyebanji’s emergence as the APC flag bearer.

Olawumi had alleged that she was unlawfully excluded from participating in the party’s nomination process and urged the court to invalidate the primary election and nullify Oyebanji’s candidacy.

With this judgment, the Supreme Court has effectively laid to rest all legal disputes surrounding the APC primary election in Ekiti State.
