The Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced a statewide engagement with the League of Imams and Alfas as part of preparations for the 2027 Hajj pilgrimage.

The Board’s management recently visited Islamic leaders in the Ijebu Axis to formally brief them on the commencement of the 2027 Hajj registration exercise and solicit their support in sensitising intending pilgrims.

As part of the initiative, sensitisation programmes will be held in mosques across the Ijebu Zone to educate prospective pilgrims on the registration process and encourage them to begin their preparations early.

Speaking during the engagement, the Executive Secretary of the Board, Ajibola Taiwo, stressed the important role of religious leaders in ensuring a smooth and successful Hajj exercise.

Taiwo explained that keeping Imams and Alfas adequately informed would enable them to provide members of their congregations with accurate information about the registration process and encourage early registration.

Responding, the Chief Imam, Alhaji Gbadegesin Ayanbadejo, commended the Board for engaging Islamic leaders and ensuring their involvement in the state’s preparations for the 2027 Hajj.

Ayanbadejo also urged Muslim faithful who intend to perform the Hajj to key into the Hajj savings scheme, noting that the initiative would make payment more convenient, flexible and affordable for prospective pilgrims.

He pledged the support of Imams and Alfas across the state for the Board’s registration and sensitisation campaign, expressing confidence that the collaboration would contribute to the success of the 2027 Hajj exercise.
