As part of efforts to improve electricity supply and accelerate socio-economic development in rural communities, the Ogun State Government has commissioned and energised 500KVA 33/0.415KV transformer with a Low Tension (LT) extension, at Ijari in Ijebu North-East Local Government Area of the State.

Speaking at the commissioning, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, disclosed that the project was another demonstration of the Dapo Abiodun led administration’s commitment to expanding access to critical infrastructure to enhance the quality of life of residents, adding that the installation and energising of the transformer would improve electricity supply, support businesses, stimulate economic activities and strengthen security within the community.

The Commissioner, represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Dr. Rotimiolu Akinlesi, commended the Chairman of Ijebu North-East Local Government, Hon. Folusho Badejo, for prioritising projects with direct impact on the welfare of the people, urging residents to take ownership of the facility by protecting it from vandalism and ensuring its proper maintenance.

In his remarks, Hon. Badejo, appreciated Governor Dapo Abiodun for providing the intervention funds that made the project possible, noting that the installation and energisation of the transformer had fulfilled a long-standing aspiration of the people of Ijari, who had endured more than 12 months of inadequate electricity supply.

The Council Chairman, said the project would significantly improve power distribution, boost commercial activities, encourage the growth of small and medium-scale enterprises and attract more investment to the community, assuring residents that his administration would continue to prioritise people-oriented projects that would address the immediate needs of the people.

In their separate remarks, a retired Head of Local Government Administration in Ijebu North-East, Mrs. Kehinde Akinola and a community leader, Elder Adesanya Elisha, commended the State government and the Local government chairman for delivering the project, expressing optimism that the improved electricity supply would enhance business activities, support education and promote socio-economic development in the area.
