FIFA have released an official statement denying claims that its president, Gianni Infantino, promised Morocco the hosting rights for the 2030 FIFA World Cup final.
There had been widespread speculation suggesting that Infantino offered the final to the North African nation as he allegedly fights to retain his position. However, FIFA has strongly refuted the reports, insisting they are “false and misleading.”
The statement read: “It is false and misleading to claim the FIFA President has made any promise in relation to hosting the FIFA World Cup 2030 Final.
“A decision will be made by FIFA in due course.”
Meanwhile, Spain are hopeful of staging the final of the next World Cup. The Portugal FA declined to comment when approached by TalkSPORT.
