Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has installed a new monarch for the people of Tongeji island, in person of the  Akoko of Tongeji Island, Oba Emmanuel Ireti Oku, urging him to lead with inclusivity as a Part II Oba in the Ipokia Local Government Area.

The Governor's message, delivered by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, stressed the importance of selfless service inherent in the role of an Oba. Governor Abiodun encouraged the monarch to engage all stakeholders, including those who vied for the throne alongside with him.

"The responsibility you bear transcends favoritism or bias. You are expected to govern with fairness, focus on results and include those who contested the throne with you, as they are not merely competitors but stakeholders," he stated.

In his address, the Chairman of Ipokia Local Government, Hon. Akohomeh Avoseh, urged the Oba to promote peace and unity among the people of Tongeji for the community's progress.

In his remarks, the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewa land, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, represented by the Opo of Idosemo, Oba James Ajibola Igbowu, expressed gratitude to the State government and called upon the residents of Tongeji Island to support the Oba for a successful reign.

In his response, Oba Emmanuel Ireti Oku, expressed his appreciation to the State government, Oba Olugbenle and other stakeholders for their trust in him.

He pledged to lead  diligently and transform the community  by fostering development from all quarters.
