The Ilisan Youth Development Association (IYDA) on Monday officially commenced its 2026 Free Holiday Coaching Programme, reaffirming its commitment to improving the academic performance of students and investing in the future of Ilisan Remo through quality educational support.
The opening assembly, held at the St. Barnabas Primary School, Ilisan, brought together students, volunteer teachers and members of the Association. Representing the Chairman of IYDA, Alhaji Usman Simisaye, the Treasurer, Comrade Kazeem Oseni (Adeen), formally declared the programme open and welcomed participants to this year's edition.
In his address, Comrade Oseni expressed profound appreciation to the volunteer teachers for their selfless commitment to community development. He commended them for sacrificing their time and sharing their wealth of knowledge to nurture the next generation of leaders, describing their service as a remarkable demonstration of giving back to their community.
He noted that the success of every community depends largely on the willingness of its people to invest in the education and development of young minds, adding that the volunteer teachers have set an inspiring example of service, leadership and patriotism.
Addressing the students, Comrade Oseni encouraged them to make the most of the opportunity by paying rapt attention during lessons, participating actively in classroom activities and asking questions whenever they encounter challenges. He also urged them to remain disciplined, punctual and committed throughout the programme.
According to him, beyond academic learning, the holiday coaching programme provides an avenue for students from different schools and backgrounds to interact, build meaningful friendships and develop healthy relationships that will positively impact their future.
The IYDA Free Holiday Coaching Programme is one of the Association's flagship educational initiatives aimed at supporting students academically during the long vacation while promoting excellence, mentorship and community service.
The 2026 edition features experienced volunteer teachers offering free lessons in Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Basic Science, Government, Literature, Commerce, Financial Accounting, Economics and Social Studies.
