The Deputy Minority Whip of the Senate and representative of Kano Central Senatorial District, Senator Rufai Hanga, has officially resigned from the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC).
Hanga conveyed his decision in a resignation letter dated August 3, 2026, addressed to the NDC Ward Chairman in Dakata Ward, Kano State.
According to the lawmaker, his exit from the party followed careful reflection and personal deliberation, as he seeks to focus on other commitments and career pursuits.
In the letter, Hanga expressed appreciation to the ward executive committee and party members for the support, opportunities, and camaraderie he enjoyed during his time in the party.
“I am writing to formally notify you of my resignation from the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), effective from today, August 3, 2026,” the letter read.
“After careful reflection and personal deliberation, I have decided to withdraw my membership from the party to pursue other personal commitments and career paths.”
He further acknowledged the relationships and experiences gained during his political activities within the party, describing them as valuable.
Hanga also requested that his name be removed from the party’s register at the ward level, confirming that he had returned his official membership card.
He concluded by wishing the party and its members success in their future endeavours.
