MTN Nigeria has warned its subscribers to beware of fraudulent 25GB anniversary data giveaway offers circulating online, urging customers to rely only on its official platforms to access the promotion.
The telecommunications company issued the warning through its support account on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, cautioning Nigerians against clicking suspicious links, sharing personal information, or making payments on platforms falsely claiming to offer the anniversary data bundle.
MTN clarified that the official 25GB anniversary giveaway is available exclusively via the MyMTN NG App and the MTN eShop.
In its statement, the company said, “Please beware of fake MTN 25th Anniversary 25GB giveaway offers circulating online. The official MTN 25GB Anniversary Giveaway is available ONLY via the MyMTN NG App and MTN eShop.
Do not click on links, share your personal information, or make payments on any other platform claiming to offer the giveaway. Only trust official MTN channels.”
In a separate post, MTN explained how eligible subscribers can access the offer. “Log in to the MyMTN App and tap ‘Redeem Now’ on the anniversary banner or visit the MTN eShop. Follow the prompts to activate the bundle if you are eligible. You may also use the link provided in the SMS notification sent to you regarding the offer,” the company stated.
MTN further advised subscribers to depend only on messages and updates received through its verified channels when attempting to access the promotion.
The company also noted that the 25GB free data bundle will remain valid until 11:59 pm on the stated expiry date, urging eligible customers to redeem the offer within the validity period.
The warning comes amid the widespread circulation of misleading online posts and links purporting to offer free MTN data as part of the company’s 25th anniversary celebrations.
Subscribers are therefore strongly advised to avoid unauthorised websites or platforms requesting personal details, payments or other sensitive information in exchange for the supposed giveaway.
