The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has reduced the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, at some of its filling stations in Abuja.

A market survey conducted by DAILY POST on Tuesday showed that NNPCL outlets in Gwarimpa, Kubwa Expressway, Wuse Zone 4 and Wuse Zone 6 were selling petrol at ₦1,250 per litre, down from the previous price of ₦1,299 per litre.

The latest adjustment represents a ₦49 reduction per litre.

The price cut comes shortly after reports that motorists had begun avoiding NNPCL retail outlets because of their comparatively higher petrol prices.

Earlier, MRS and other filling stations linked to the Dangote Refinery had reduced their pump prices by between ₦25 and ₦50 per litre, bringing prices to between ₦1,210 and ₦1,275 per litre in some locations.

With NNPCL's latest reduction, petrol is currently selling for between ₦1,210 and ₦1,300 per litre across Abuja and surrounding areas, depending on the filling station.
