The Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced ew engagement with the League of Imams and Alfas in remo zones of the state as part of efforts to kick-start the registration exercise for the 2027 Hajj.

The engagement was aimed at informing Islamic leaders about the commencement of the 2027 Hajj registration and preparing them for an upcoming sensitisation campaign to be held in mosques across the zone

The sensitisation programmes are expected to educate intending pilgrims on the registration process and provide them with timely information on preparations for the pilgrimage.

Speaking during the meetings, the Executive Secretary of the Board, Ajibola Taiwo, described the League of Imams and Alfas as a critical stakeholder in the success of the Hajj exercise.

Taiwo said involving Islamic leaders from the outset would help ensure that intending pilgrims receive accurate and timely information, while also encouraging them to register early.

Responding on behalf of the League of Imams and Alfas, the President-General, Sheikh Jinadu, appreciated the Board's management for the visit and for keeping the Islamic leadership informed about preparations for the 2027 Hajj.

He also commended the Ogun State Government for the successful conduct of the 2026 Hajj operations, particularly the airlift of pilgrims through Gateway International Airport, Iperu.

Sheikh Jinadu expressed optimism that the state would continue to record significant progress in the aviation sector.

He assured the Board of the League's continued support and pledged the cooperation of Imams and Alfas across Ogun State towards ensuring the success of the 2027 Hajj registration and sensitisation campaign.
