Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, has dismissed criticism of his dancing, saying the hobby does not affect his ability to govern the state.

Adeleke made the statement during the Arise Town Hall for Osun governorship candidates ahead of Saturday’s election, while responding to a question on whether his public dancing had affected his administration.

The governor said he was capable of combining recreation with his official responsibilities, stressing that there was “a time to dance” and “a time to work.”

“Nobody can stop me from dancing. As I’m dancing, I’m working,” Adeleke said.

He added that despite his public displays of dancing, he remained serious and prudent in carrying out his responsibilities as governor.

Adeleke attributed some of the criticism from members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to jealousy, joking that his critics were unable to dance like him.

“So, they are jealous because they don’t know how to dance. If they want, I will teach them how to dance, but that does not stop me from my work,” he said.

The governor, who is seeking re-election, also criticised his predecessor, Gboyega Oyetola, claiming that the former governor had yet to overcome his defeat in the previous governorship election.

Adeleke further defended dancing as a personal hobby, insisting that it neither interferes with nor affects his responsibilities as governor.

“Dancing is a hobby; it does not disturb or affect my work,” he said.
