The Senator representing Osun East Senatorial District, Francis Fadahunsi, has arrived at the Osun State Police Command headquarters in Osogbo for questioning over a controversial statement allegedly made ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

Fadahunsi arrived at about 2:35 p.m. on Wednesday in the company of the Commissioner of Police in charge of election security, Samuel Etaifo Erale.

The lawmaker was invited by the police following a viral video in which he was allegedly heard threatening members of the Accord Party ahead of the election.

The controversy generated widespread reactions after Fadahunsi was allegedly captured telling supporters that Accord Party members seen in Ilesa before the election should be killed.

In a letter dated August 11, 2026, and signed by Etaifo Erale, the senator was directed to report to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Osogbo at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday for questioning.

The police said the invitation was aimed at clarifying the circumstances surrounding the statement allegedly made during an APC gathering in Ilesa on Tuesday.

The development comes amid heightened political tension in Osun State ahead of Saturday’s governorship election, with security agencies warning political actors and their supporters against inflammatory statements capable of triggering violence.

The police command has maintained that its action is part of measures to safeguard public peace and ensure a peaceful, free, fair and credible election in the state.
