Apostle Joshua Aghasedo of Powerline Church has said the use of sex toys by married couples does not constitute a sin, describing them as tools that can assist spouses in their intimate life.

Aghasedo made the remarks in a video shared on the church’s YouTube channel on Tuesday, where he likened sex toys to everyday equipment such as cars and mobile phones.

According to the cleric, such devices could help married couples improve their intimate experience, stressing that his comments were strictly within the context of marriage.

He said he had previously recommended the use of a sex toy to a married couple after considering their circumstances, with the aim of helping them address challenges in their relationship.

However, Aghasedo distinguished between the use of such devices by married couples and their use individually.

The cleric maintained that his position was based on his religious interpretation and that the issue should be considered within the framework of marriage.

The comments have generated discussion around intimacy, marriage and religious teachings, with views on the subject differing among faith leaders and within Nigerian society.

While some religious authorities consider the use of sex toys inappropriate, others focus on whether their use occurs within a marital relationship.
