Voting was temporarily disrupted in Ejigbo, Osun State, on Saturday after violence erupted at a polling area during the ongoing governorship election.

Video footage from the scene showed voters, residents and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) fleeing in different directions as tension escalated.

According to Channel Television, motorcycles and vehicles were also seen moving away from the area as people attempted to reach safety.

The immediate cause of the violence remained unclear as of the time of reporting, while there were no independently confirmed details of casualties or property damage.

The incident temporarily halted voting at the affected location, raising concerns over the conduct of the election in the area. 

The development occurred amid heightened security across Osun State as voters turned out to elect the next governor.
