Civil/Public Servants have been told that for service to be delivered in an efficient manner, they must portray themselves to be responsible of their environment, be proud of it, support the government in all its policies, as well as reciprocate the gesture that the governor is worker friendly.

The Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Olanrewaju Saka stated this when he led representatives of the Body of Permanent Secretaries, Directors and other stakeholders to monitor yet another in the series of the bi-monthly Environmental Sanitation in the Ogun State Civil/Public Service.

According to him, the Public Servants must fully embrace the policy of 'clean your environment' to ensure that their Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) are well kept, as they must be responsible and committed to the environment they are working in, and added that keeping clean environment is for the collective good of all, that will keep reptiles at bay.

"The Governor, at one of the Executive Council meetings applauded me for this initiative and I urge the workers to convince him that we can do better because he has provided for us an enabling environment, there's never a time we present any memo for approval to enhance performance that he declined. Since he has been giving us such support, we should be able to do more to convince him that we are responsible", the HoS said.

He commended the workers for an impressive turn out and assured that it will get better as the months unfold and charged Accounting Officers in all MDAs to embark on massive measurement and evaluation, as proper monitoring will keep the workers on their toes and added that policies left unmonitored will gradually fade away.

He revealed that part of encouragement measures is the award of Environmental Sanitation Ambassadors, who will be given commendation letters and said 4 officers have been awarded with such since the exercise began and urged all to keep being responsible.

"Today, we are proud to say we have appointed 4 ambassadors with letters of commendation that will earn them marks during promotion exercise. It is a way to encourage the workers", the HoS said.

Agencies monitored included the Ministry of Forestry, Ogun State Rural Access Road Agency, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Bureau of Lands and Survey, Ogun State Public Works Agency, Ogun State Computerized Vehicle Inspection Services, the Nigerian Legion, Ogun State Command Headquarters, Ogun State Property and Investment Corporation (OPIC), Ogun State Housing Corporation, amongst others.
