Ronke Oshodi-Oke Defends Accepting Money to Support Politicians, Reveals Relationship with Sotayo Gaga - The Alternative News

Nollywood actress Ronke Ojo, popularly known as Ronke Oshodi-Oke, has defended her decision to accept money to support or endorse political figures, saying such engagements are part of her efforts to make a living.

The actress made the disclosure during an interview with African A-List, uploaded on YouTube on Sunday and monitored by PUNCH Online on Tuesday.

Speaking about Nigerian politics and whether she would accept money to endorse a politician, Oshodi-Oke said she preferred not to discuss politics, describing the Nigerian political space as “dirty.”

She, however, urged Nigerians not to criticise or insult her if they saw her supporting a political figure.

“If you see me behind any politician, anybody, just see it as if she is looking for something to put food on the table. Just leave, let her eat. Do not insult or drag me,” she said.

The actress stressed that her involvement with politicians should not be interpreted as an instruction to Nigerians on who to vote for.

“I am not saying you should not vote for whoever you want to vote for,” she added.

Oshodi-Oke also revealed that she has not spoken with fellow actress Sotayo Gaga for about five or six years.

According to her, their silence followed a disagreement rather than a major conflict.

She disclosed that Sotayo later sent her N150,000 after learning that she was ill, but they have not communicated since then.

“We hadn’t spoken in a long time. Not that we were at war; we just had a little disagreement. The last time we spoke was five or six years ago. But when she heard I was sick, she sent me N150,000. And since then, we haven’t spoken,” she said.

The actress added that when they meet at social gatherings, they simply walk past each other without exchanging greetings.

Oshodi-Oke also spoke about her health challenges, marriage struggles, motherhood and her career in Nollywood.

She reflected on the difficult period she experienced during her illness, saying it influenced her perspective on life and relationships.

The actress further discussed her decision to join the Celestial Church of Christ during her health challenges, while stressing that she does not condemn people who practise other religions.

She also spoke about her journey in the Nigerian film industry and the challenges of balancing her career, family and personal life.
