Tinubu to Review State Police Bill September 3 - Presidency - The Alternative News

The Presidency has announced that the proposed executive bill on state police will be ready for President Bola Tinubu’s review by September 3, 2026.

Femi Gbajabiamila, chairman of the presidential working group on the national policing bill, disclosed this on Monday after the committee’s inaugural meeting at the State House, Abuja.

According to him, the drafting process will follow a seven-week timeline, running from July 27 to September 14, 2026.

Gbajabiamila noted that administrative and technical preparations for the bill have already commenced, with plans to present the draft to the President upon completion.

He added that, subject to Tinubu’s approval, a nationwide consultation will be conducted before the bill is finalised and transmitted to the National Assembly.

“The approved work programme is a seven-week, milestone-driven exercise running from July 27 to September 14, 2026,” he said.

“The resulting Executive Bill package is scheduled for presentation to the President on September 3. Subject to his approval, a national consultation on the completed draft will follow before transmission to the National Assembly.”

President Tinubu had in July inaugurated the presidential committee tasked with developing the legal framework for the implementation of state police across the country.
