ABEOKUTA — The immediate past Chief of Staff to the Ogun State Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency in the 2027 House of Representatives election, Dr. Emmanuel Oluwatoyin Taiwo, has promised to promote improved agricultural production through access to quality high-yielding seedlings, fertilisers, modern farming equipment and mechanisation.

Taiwo said the initiatives, if implemented, would boost agricultural productivity, strengthen food security and improve the livelihoods of farmers and other constituents across the federal constituency.

The APC candidate disclosed this in Abeokuta while unveiling his vision and priorities for the constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He said his vision was to transform Ipokia/Yewa South into an economically viable and prosperous federal constituency through quality legislation, effective representation and the facilitation of federal government projects and interventions.

According to him, agriculture remains one of the major economic pillars of the constituency and must therefore be repositioned through deliberate government support, modern technology and improved access to the inputs required to increase production.

Taiwo said his decision to seek election into the House of Representatives was driven by a strong desire to create meaningful economic opportunities and improve the quality of life of the people of Ipokia and Yewa South.

He said he would leverage his experience in government, extensive networks and understanding of government processes to attract federal interventions, infrastructure and developmental projects to the constituency.

“My mission is to build an economically viable Ipokia/Yewa South Federal Constituency through quality legislation and the facilitation of federal government projects that will directly impact the lives of our people,” he said.

Taiwo identified economic prosperity, agriculture, education, human capital development, women and widows' empowerment, as well as programmes targeted at the elderly, as key components of his agenda.

On education, he pledged to make the sector a major priority, promising to collaborate with the Federal and Ogun State Governments to support policies and initiatives that would expand educational opportunities for constituents.

He also promised to give deliberate attention to youth development through skills acquisition, human capital development initiatives and access to federal employment opportunities.

According to him, empowering young people is critical to building a productive workforce and securing the economic future of the constituency.

On the long-standing issue surrounding the proposed relocation of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) to Ipokia, Taiwo promised to pursue the matter with the seriousness it deserves if elected.

He said the relocation, if properly pursued and achieved, could significantly contribute to the educational, economic and social development of the area.

Taiwo also spoke on the reported discovery of oil around the Tongeji Highland, assuring constituents that the issue would receive the necessary attention if he is elected to the National Assembly.

He noted that the ongoing processes surrounding oil exploration in Ogun Waterside Local Government Area had demonstrated the growing importance of Ogun State's emerging oil potential.

He maintained that the reported discovery around Tongeji Highland should not be neglected, promising to use his position in the National Assembly to advocate for the necessary federal attention, exploration and intervention.

Speaking on his chances in the 2027 election, the APC candidate expressed confidence in victory, describing the APC as the party to beat at both the federal and state levels.

He attributed his optimism to what he described as the achievements of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Ogun State Government under Governor Dapo Abiodun.

Taiwo also cited his longstanding relationship with the people of Ipokia/Yewa South, saying his familiarity with the constituency and understanding of its challenges would strengthen his appeal to voters.

He expressed confidence that he would win the election and effectively represent the constituency at the National Assembly.

Taiwo assured the people of Ipokia/Yewa South that his aspiration was not merely about occupying political office, but about using the opportunity to attract development, create economic opportunities and ensure that the constituency benefits maximally from government programmes and projects.

He urged constituents to support his vision of a more economically prosperous, agriculturally productive and socially developed Ipokia/Yewa South Federal Constituency.
