The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has accused four close associates of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, of misleading him and worsening the ongoing political crisis in the state.

Speaking during a media chat in Port Harcourt on Saturday, Wike identified Edison Ehie, Chijioke Ihunwo, Victor Oko Jumbo and activist Ankio Briggs as key figures who allegedly provided the governor with poor advice.

According to Wike, the individuals consistently misled Fubara, contributing to the prolonged political standoff in Rivers State. He further alleged that their influence led the governor to renege on agreements reached following a peace deal brokered by President Bola Hamed Tinubu.

Wike maintained that Governor Fubara stands to lose the most from the crisis.

“I feel for Governor Siminalayi Fubara because he is the biggest loser,” Wike stated.

The rift between Wike and his successor has significantly impacted the political landscape in Rivers State. At the height of the crisis, President Tinubu declared a state of emergency, leading to the suspension of Governor Fubara for six months.

Although the governor later defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), he was unable to secure the party’s ticket for a second term. Recent developments indicate that Fubara has now returned to Wike’s political camp.
