The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has directed members of the Super Falcons’ technical crew to step down from their positions with immediate effect.
The decision was announced on Monday by the NFF Executive Committee following the team’s disappointing performances in recent competitions.
In a statement on its official X account, the NFF said: “The Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation has asked members of the technical crew of the @NGSuper_Falcons to step down with immediate effect.”
The Super Falcons recently suffered their worst-ever outing at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), where they were eliminated in the quarter-finals for the first time in the history of the competition.
Nigeria lost 1-0 to Cameroon in the last eight, missing out on an automatic qualification ticket to the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
The nine-time African champions subsequently entered the qualification playoffs but suffered another setback after losing 2-1 to South Africa’s Banyana Banyana.
The defeat ended Nigeria’s hopes of qualifying for the 2027 Women’s World Cup.
