Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has charged the newly installed Coronet Oba, the Onilemomu of Lemomu, Oba Sakiru Ajani, that his jurisdiction and circle of influence does not transcend beyond the Lemomu community, hence he is not expected to extend his authority beyond that.
Speaking during the official installation and presentation of staff of office to the new monarch at Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the State, the Governor, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Dr. Rotimiolu Akinlesi, said that as a Coronet Oba, installing Baales over any settlement in his neighborhood or any other community does not fall under his purview.
Akinlesi, informed the monarch that by his appointment as the Onilemomu, he has become the royal custodian of the culture and tradition of the community and as such, he should endeavour to preserve the culture and revered his sacred status, adding that his loyalty to his ancestral home under the leadership of kabiyesi Alayeluwa, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, must be unflinching.
The Chairman, Ogun State Obas Council and the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo represented by Olota of Ota, Oba Adeyemi Obalanlegbe, appreciated the Governor for the honour and approval given to Lemomu community.
He charged the new monarch to lead with fairness and encourage an open policy to succeed in his reign.
Delivering his acceptance speech, Oba Sakiru Ajani, appreciated the Governor and Alake for the support, calling on sons and daughters of Lemomu to join hands together to take Lemomu into enviable heights.
