The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general election, Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has promised to introduce Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a subject in public primary and secondary schools across Ogun State if elected.

Adeola made the promise while unveiling his ITESIWAJU agenda to journalists during a familiarisation visit to Iwe-Iroyin, Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta, saying every child must have access to the tools of the 21st century, noting that technological advancement was creating new opportunities for people to build successful businesses and become billionaires through financial and digital platforms.

The senator also promised to expand technical and vocational education to make graduates work-ready rather than merely certificate holders, adding that his administration would also address the shortage of quality teachers and rehabilitate classrooms and other learning infrastructure across the state.

He highlighted some of the infrastructural projects undertaken in Ogun West and other parts of the state, including the construction of classroom blocks with staff rooms, libraries and 12 toilets, promising to extend such projects to more primary and secondary schools across the state.

According to him, "his administration would approach education from two major perspectives: tertiary education, primary and secondary education.

I am not saying I am going to have two different people to manage it. The tertiary institutions and the primary and secondary institutions.Ogun State has the highest number of tertiary institutions, both private and government-owned. We are going to ensure that every one of our institutions is not lacking in any area.”

Earlier, the Chairman of the Ogun State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Wale Olanrewaju, assured Adeola of the support of journalists in the state, saying journalists in Ogun State were solidly behind the APC candidate and promised that they would vote massively for him in the 2027 general election.
