President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ended his working vacation in Europe after spending at least 30 days away from Nigeria.

The President departed Abuja for Europe on August 30 for his annual leave and was initially expected to return to the country after 21 days. However, his return was rescheduled at least twice.

DAILY POST reports that Tinubu’s prolonged absence from the country had drawn criticism from opposition parties, which called for clarification on his whereabouts and health status.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the President’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, said Tinubu had departed Paris, France, for Nigeria.

According to Onanuga, the President’s aircraft “is expected to touch down at Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, later this evening.”

He added that the Nigerian leader chose to fly to Lagos first to honour the memory of Chief MKO Abiola, whom he described as a martyr of Nigeria’s democratic struggle.
