The Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, has expressed confidence that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will retain the presidency and win the governorship and other elective positions in Kaduna State during the 2027 general elections.

Musa, a retired general, made the declaration on Thursday during an interview with Channels Television’s Politics Today, hours after Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso warned their supporters against attempts to manipulate the 2027 elections.

Obi had cautioned that Nigerians would resist any attempt to subvert their votes at polling units, while Kwankwaso argued that the APC could lose the presidency despite its control of more than 30 states, citing the defeat of former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015.

Reacting to suggestions that voters in Kaduna might reject the APC and President Bola Tinubu because of the administration’s performance, Musa dismissed the claim as a matter of individual perception.

“That’s a perception. It’s a perception, and I mean, everybody has his own perception to deal with. People will always have the good, the bad and the ugly,” he said.

Asked whether the APC could lose Kaduna State in 2027, the minister was unequivocal in his response.

“I cannot say cannot lose. APC will win in Kaduna. That I know,” Musa said.

When asked if he was referring specifically to the governorship election, he replied: “Definitely. Presidential, governorship, and all levels.”

Musa also rejected claims of growing opposition to the APC and Tinubu in northern Nigeria. According to him, some individuals were exploiting public dissatisfaction to stir sentiments against the ruling party.

He further defended the Tinubu administration’s policies, arguing that the President had taken difficult decisions that would eventually produce positive results.

The minister urged Nigerians to remain patient, saying the benefits of some of the government’s reforms would become more evident over time.
