Gov. Abiodun Commends Akinlagun Community For Unity, Development - The Alternative News

 




The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has commended the people of Akinlagun, for their collective commitment to the development of the traditional institution and the progress of their community.

Gov. Abiodun, gave the commendation at the town in Odeda Local Government Area, during the installation and presentation of the Staff of Office to the new Olu of Akinlagun, Oba Akanji Fatola.

Represented by the Commissioner, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, Abiodun noted that the people had demonstrated unity by placing the interest of the community above personal considerations.

He enjoined the people to sustain peace and give the new monarch the necessary support to develop the domain, stressing that meaningful development could only thrive in an atmosphere free from rancour and division.

Speaking during the presentation of the Staff of Office to the monarch, Abiodun charged the new monarch to adopt an open-door policy and see his position as a call to service, urging him to work with all stakeholders and justify the confidence reposed in him by the people.

Also speaking, the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, called on the sons and daughters of Akinlagun to support the new monarch and work collectively towards the development of the community.

Elemide, stressed that the government alone could not provide all the solutions needed for sustainable development, urging the people to complement government efforts by contributing their ideas, resources as well as commitment to the growth of the domain.

On her part, the Chairman, Odeda Local Government, Hon. Afolashade Adeyemo, congratulated the new monarch, commending his patience and resilience throughout the process leading to his installation. She prayed that his reign would usher in unprecedented growth and development in Akinlagun.

In his acceptance speech, Oba Fatola, expressed appreciation to the Governor for the honour bestowed on him and his community, as well as facilitating the formal elevation of the traditional stool to  an Obaship status.

The monarch pledged to promote peace, unity and development in Akinlagun, while promising to work closely with the government to improve the welfare and well-being of his people.
