Odogbolu LG Commissions Ultra-Modern Sports Center, Applauded for Grassroots Development - The Alternative News



The Odogbolu Local Government Chairman, Hon. Tunde Diya, has been commended for delivering an ultra-modern sports center and other grassroots projects during  his ongoing administration.

Speaking at the commissioning and the delivery of the projects, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat,  represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Rotimiolu Akinlesi, described construction  of the completed infrastructure as a product of the judicious use of limited resources, citing the Chairman's record as proof. The commissioner, called on residents to reciprocate by taking proper care of the facilities.

"My charge is for the people to own these facilities and take responsibility for them to be protected.. This is particularly important for sustainable development," he said.

In his address, Hon. Diya, thanked the Abiodun-led government  of Ogun State for creating an enabling environment and acknowledged the stakeholders who supported the projects. He said every development under his administration carries weight, singling out the sports center for its role in the community.




"This is not just a building; it is a sanctuary for our youth; a state-of-the-art facility designed to discover raw talent, keep young people productively engaged, and bring sports tourism to Odogbolu," he said.

The Obiri of Aiyepe, Oba Adebisi Okubanjo, and Former Deputy Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Remmy Hazzan, sent separate goodwill messages commending the Chairman's inclusive, people-focused leadership. 
  
   Leader of the Odogbolu Legislative Council, Rt. Hon. Akeem Adesoye, equally echoed the sentiment, noting that councillors across all wards had benefited from developmental projects under Diya's watch.

Other projects commissioned at the event included the reconstructed Legislative Chamber at the Council Secretariat, lock-up shops in Ososa and Idowa, street lighting in Aiyepe and Odogbolu, and new classroom blocks in Imodi and Idagbe-Ogbo, among others.

The ceremony drew dignitaries including the Chairman, Local Government Service Commission, Ms. Olivia Onabanjo, Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Arole  Bello; Permanent Secretary of the Local Government Service Commission, Engr. Olanike Ogunbona; the Member, representing Ijebu Central Federal Constituency at  the House of Representatives, Hon. (Barr.) Olufemi Ogunbanwo; alongside party leaders, traditional rulers, clergy and members of the host community.
