The Sokoto State Police Command has expressed grief over the death of Inspector Adamu Isah, who reportedly collapsed shortly after participating in the command’s weekly walkathon exercise on Wednesday.
Isah, an officer attached to the Department of Operations, was said to have returned to the command headquarters after the exercise when he suddenly collapsed.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Rufa’i, disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday that the officer was immediately rushed to a hospital for medical attention, where doctors later confirmed his death.
Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, CP Hayatu Shaffa, described Isah’s death as a painful loss to the command and commiserated with his family, colleagues and friends.
Shaffa described the deceased as a dedicated and gallant officer who served the nation with commitment and professionalism.
The commissioner also noted that Isah was actively involved in sports, serving as a member of the command’s volleyball team and participating as a boxer.
According to him, the late inspector’s energy, discipline and team spirit would be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
Shaffa further described Isah as a disciplined officer who made significant contributions to the operations of the command, assuring his family of the police command’s support.
He urged personnel to remain steadfast and draw comfort from the deceased’s years of service to the nation, while praying for the peaceful repose of his soul.
