Ahead of the commencement of the 2026/2027 academic session, the Ogun State Government has assured parents and guardians of adequate security for learners across schools in the state.

The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, gave the assurance while addressing journalists ahead of school resumption at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Arigbabu said the government had engaged security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), So-Safe Corps and Amotekun Corps, to strengthen security in and around schools.

He explained that the collaboration would enhance security intelligence, access control and emergency response, while identified security hotspots would be addressed to prevent possible threats to the school environment.

The Commissioner noted that the synergy among the security agencies was aimed at ensuring the safety of lives and property, stressing that security was a collective responsibility.

He therefore urged members of the public, particularly parents and guardians, to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or activities to the appropriate security agencies.

On hooliganism, Arigbabu stressed the importance of parents and guardians signing undertakings at the beginning of each academic year. He also urged them to monitor their children's activities and conduct closely.

The Commissioner appreciated journalists for their continued partnership with the government, describing the media as a critical partner in promoting and implementing government policies and programmes.
