Nigeria’s Super Eagles will begin their campaign for a place at the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations with a home fixture against Madagascar on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed that the match will be played at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.

Four days later, on Sunday, September 27, the Super Eagles will travel to Morocco to take on Guinea-Bissau in their second qualifying fixture.

The fixtures were contained in a schedule graphic posted on the official Super Eagles X account on Tuesday.

Nigeria is drawn in Group L alongside Madagascar, Guinea-Bissau and Tanzania, one of the three co-hosts of the 2027 AFCON.

The tournament will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania from June 19 to July 17, 2027.

The Super Eagles will be aiming to return to the continental showpiece after missing out on the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The AFCON qualifiers will be played on a home-and-away basis, with each team expected to play six matches in the group stage.

Under the qualifying format, the top two teams in each group will normally advance to the finals. However, Group L has a special arrangement because Tanzania is an automatic qualifier as a host nation.

As a result, only the highest-ranked team other than Tanzania in Group L will secure qualification for the 2027 AFCON finals.
