Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested six suspected kidnappers operating around Soktu Hill in Song Local Government Area of Adamawa State, while another Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorist surrendered to the military in Borno State.

The Acting Military Information Officer of the North-East Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai, Captain Mohammed Goni, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.

According to Goni, troops of Sector 4, in collaboration with local hunters, raided a suspected kidnapping syndicate’s hideout around Soktu Hill following credible intelligence.

The operation resulted in the arrest of three suspects and the recovery of a Dane gun. Further investigations and covert operations led to the arrest of three additional suspects, bringing the total number of arrested kidnappers to six.

Goni said preliminary investigations indicated that the syndicate had been operating in the Soktu, Dumne and Maigero areas of Song LGA.

He added that the suspects reportedly confessed to abducting several victims for ransom and committing other violent crimes in the area.

The suspects remain in military custody for further investigation and prosecution.

Meanwhile, on September 13, troops of the 29 Task Force Brigade, operating under Sector 2 of Operation Hadin Kai, alongside Forest Guards, received a surrendered Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorist at Borgozo in Benisheikh, Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State.

Goni said preliminary investigations revealed that the terrorist had escaped from a terrorist enclave with the intention of abandoning the insurgency.

Items recovered from the surrendered terrorist included an AK-47 rifle, 14 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition, four magazines, an improvised explosive device, a magazine pouch and a bicycle.

The individual is currently in military custody for further investigation and profiling.

The military spokesman said the operations demonstrate the continued pressure being mounted by Operation Hadin Kai against terrorists and other criminal elements across the North-East.

He assured that the Theatre Command would sustain offensive operations aimed at restricting the activities of terrorists and criminals and creating a safer environment for residents and economic activities.
