The Ogun State Government, through the State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), has inducted newly appointed 22 Zonal Coordinating Principals and 131 Principals, as part of efforts to strengthen leadership and administration in Public Secondary Schools across the State.

Speaking at the induction ceremony,  Chairman of TESCOM, Apostle ‘Biodun Sanyaolu, said the programme was part of the Commission’s transformation drive, aimed at entrusting officers with greater responsibilities under a renewed vision for a more efficient, responsive and technology-driven teaching service.

Sanyaolu, said the Commission was committed to ensuring that Public Secondary Schools had the required human resources to deliver quality education, adding that TESCOM would continue to prioritise digital transformation, improve its portal and strengthen zonal administration.

He urged the inductees to develop action plans that would add value to their respective positions, while charging them to uphold discipline, integrity and professionalism, calling on them to work towards improving the welfare of teachers and the quality of education received by learners.

In his remarks, the State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, said technology had taken centre stage in the Ogun State education system through initiatives such as OgunLEARN.

 Arigbabu encouraged the inductees to fully embrace technology and leverage the OgunLEARN initiative to improve teaching and learning in schools across the State.

Speaking on behalf of the full-time Commissioners of TESCOM, Hon. Olanrewaju Majekodunmi, said the inductees were selected on merit. He charged them to take ownership of their new responsibilities and contribute meaningfully to the achievement of the “Building Our Future Together” agenda of the present administration.

 In his remarks, the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Evang. Olalekan Ifede, said the state’s public education sector was witnessing a tangible turnaround.

Ifede, implored the inductees to accept their appointments in good faith and lead by example, stressing that their conduct and leadership would have a direct impact on the quality of education in their respective schools and zones.

 Earlier in his address, the Permanent Secretary of TESCOM, Mr. Idowu Onasanya, described the induction programme as significant as it would meet the  growing demand for educational leadership in an innovative, accountable, responsive and result-oriented public school system.

He called on the inductees to create safe, disciplined and stimulating learning environments where teachers and learners could thrive.

Also speaking, the Principal-General for Yewa Division, Mr. Taoreed Bankole, said the success of the new appointees would depend largely on their commitment and hard work.

He implored them to embrace the dynamism within the Commission and adapt to emerging trends in order to meet the demands of a 21st-century school system.

In separate goodwill messages, the State President of the All Nigeria Conference of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), Mr. Alaba Olugbewesa; a representative of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Comrade Olufemi Okulalu; and the Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASSUS) charged the inductees to regard their appointments as a call to service.

They urged the new officers to deploy their experience and expertise towards strengthening public secondary school administration and improving educational outcomes across the State.

In their responses, two of the inductees Mrs. Oufunmilola Sodiya and Mr. Adé-Ajayi Omotunde commended TESCOM for the elevation to the new position, pledging to be dutiful.
