Court Strikes Out FG’s Charges Against Alleged Fake PFIPC DG Adeyemi - The Alternative News

The Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday struck out the eight-count criminal charge filed by the Federal Government against Adeniyi Adeyemi, the alleged fake Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).

Justice Mohammed Garba Umar struck out the charge following an application by the Federal Government, which disclosed plans to transfer the case to the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for a fresh arraignment.

At Monday’s proceedings, the Director of Public Prosecutions of the Federation, Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN, moved the application seeking the termination of the case.

Oyedepo told the court that the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice had reviewed Adeyemi’s case file and the charge initially filed by the Inspector-General of Police, identifying some legal loopholes.

He explained that the alleged offences involving documents purportedly forged by Adeyemi while operating the agency fell within the jurisdiction of the FCT High Court rather than the Federal High Court.

The Director of Public Prosecutions added that a fresh charge had already been filed before the FCT High Court and that Adeyemi would be arraigned afresh without delay.

He consequently urged the court to strike out the existing charge in accordance with the law.

Counsel to Adeyemi, Ibrahim Angulu, SAN, did not oppose the application. Following this, Justice Umar granted the request and struck out the charge.

Adeyemi, 38, was standing trial in a case marked FHC/ABJ/CR/25/2025 alongside two other defendants, whose whereabouts were unknown, over allegations bordering on conspiracy and forgery.

The two defendants said to be at large were identified as Femi, whose surname was not disclosed and Anu, who was also identified without a surname.
