The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has increased its gantry price of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), commonly known as diesel, by ₦100 per litre, just days after announcing a price reduction.
According to Daily Post, a market survey conducted on Saturday showed that the refinery raised its diesel price from ₦1,700 to ₦1,800 per litre.
Naija News reported that the latest adjustment reversed part of the ₦80 reduction announced three days earlier, when the refinery lowered its price from ₦1,780 to ₦1,700 per litre.
Despite the increase, diesel from the refinery remained cheaper than supplies from several depot operators.
Pivot, African Terminal, Integrated and other depot operators were reportedly selling diesel at ₦1,905 per litre as of Saturday, leaving the refinery’s price ₦105 lower.
However, the latest increase could put additional pressure on retail diesel prices in Abuja and neighbouring areas, where the product was selling for between ₦1,960 and ₦1,980 per litre.
The development comes amid elevated crude oil prices in the international market, which could influence the cost of refined petroleum products.
According to the report, Brent crude was trading at $104 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) stood at $91 per barrel as of the time of filing this report.
