The Federal Government has announced plans to reduce the price of petrol at NNPC filling stations for the next 30 days.
Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, disclosed this at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday.
Oyedele said the government would introduce a discount on petrol sold at NNPC filling stations during the period, with priority given to public transport operators.
He said, “There’ll be a discount on NNPC petrol for the next 30 days, with priority for public transporters.”
The minister also disclosed that the Federal Government had reached an agreement on a negotiated landing cost for petrol, which would be reviewed monthly.
“There will be a negotiated landing cost which will be reviewed monthly,” he added.
The announcement is expected to provide temporary relief to motorists and commuters as the government seeks to moderate the impact of fuel prices on transportation costs.
