The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has warned Nigerians against a fake website claiming that the online voter registration exercise is currently ongoing.
In a public notice issued on Saturday, the commission said the website, pvc-inecnigeria-org.blogspot.com, falsely announced a nationwide voter registration window from September 28 to October 27, 2026.
INEC said the website has no affiliation with the commission and urged Nigerians not to click on the link or provide personal information on the platform.
“Members of the public are strongly advised not to click on the link or submit any personal information on the website, as doing so may expose them to the risk of having their sensitive personal data harvested or misused,” the commission said in the notice posted on X.
INEC further clarified that the voter registration exercise ended on July 26, 2026, describing claims that a new nationwide online registration exercise is currently ongoing through the website as false.
“The Commission further wishes to clarify that the voter registration exercise closed on 26th July 2026. Any information suggesting that a new nationwide online voter registration exercise is currently ongoing through the above-mentioned website is false,” it stated.
The commission urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and verify all electoral information through its official communication channels.
The fake website reportedly claims to offer a “Final Phase of Nationwide Online Voter Card Registration,” including services for updating voter registration details, transferring registration to another polling unit and replacing damaged or lost Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
It also claims that voter registration and PVC delivery are free.
INEC, however, reiterated its warning to members of the public to avoid the platform and rely only on the commission’s verified communication channels for information concerning voter registration and other electoral activities.
