Ogun Civil Servant Bows Out at 60 as Ministry, Colleagues Celebrate Humble Director - The Alternative News

Mr. Adedamola Adelaja, Director of Administration and Supplies at the Planning and Development Permit Authority (PDPA), has retired from the Ogun State Government service on attaining the statutory age of sixty.

The Authority and its parent body, the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, organised a send-forth ceremony in his honour to mark the occasion which brought together top government officials, colleagues, family members and well-wishers.

Speaker after speaker paid glowing tributes to the retiree. They described him as humble, humane, generous, kind and easy-going, and said these qualities earned him the affection and respect of everyone who worked with him.

Speaking on behalf of the family, the retiree's elder brother, Mr. Femi Adelaja, backed up what others had said, noting that the gentle and caring nature admired in the workplace was not new.
According to him, his younger brother had been that way since childhood.

Representing the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, TPl. Olatunji Odunlami, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry wished the retiree well. She prayed for him as he begins a new chapter of life after public service.

Speaking also in her own capacity as Permanent Secretary, she added her personal congratulations on his successful career. She urged him to enjoy a peaceful, healthy and fulfilling retirement.

The Acting General Manager of PDPA, TPl. Olabode Dandy, congratulated Mr. Adelaja on completing his service. He thanked him for the support he gave on the job, which he said contributed to the smooth running of the Authority.

Other Directors of Administration and Supplies in the service also graced the occasion speaking warmly of their departing colleague, praising his conduct and the example he set among his peers.

The atmosphere throughout the ceremony was one of appreciation and goodwill. Guests celebrated a public servant who, by all accounts, left behind a legacy of kindness, humility and dedication to duty.

As Mr. Adelaja steps into retirement, his colleagues and well-wishers expressed hope that the years ahead will bring him rest, good health and joy, and that the values he showed over the course of his career will continue to inspire those still in service.
