The Ogun State Government will join the global community to celebrate the 2026 World Food Day on Friday, October 16, at the Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, with a renewed commitment to food security, agricultural innovation and farmers’ prosperity.

In a statement signed by the State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Mr. Bolu Owotomo, the celebration, themed “Innovate Today. Nourish Tomorrow,” will highlight the role of innovation in transforming agriculture, strengthening food systems and ensuring access to safe, nutritious and affordable food.

A major highlight of the celebration will be the distribution of agricultural inputs and machinery to support farmers, boost productivity and increase agricultural output.

Smartphones will also be distributed to beneficiaries of the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) programme to improve their access to essential agricultural information and digital services.

The event will also feature an agricultural exhibition, bringing together farmers, agribusiness operators, development partners and other stakeholders to promote collaboration, sustainable food production and investment across the agricultural value chain.

The celebration underscores the commitment of the Ogun State Government, under the leadership of Governor Dapo Abiodun, to building a productive, resilient and commercially viable agricultural sector.

The initiative is expected to contribute to food security, create economic opportunities and improve farmers’ livelihoods across the state.
