Over 200 Ogunteach Interns Receive Letters of Employment - The Alternative News

Gafar Alabi,

No fewer than 211 interns under the Ogun State Teaching Experience Acquisition Channel (OGUNTEACH) have received permanency letters from the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).

Speaking during the distribution of the letters at the Board Secretariat, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, the Chairman of the Board, Evang. Olalekan Ifede, urged the newly appointed teachers to uphold discipline and integrity, describing the virtues as essential to achieving success in life.

Ifede, also charged the teachers to serve as role models not only to their pupils but also to members of the communities where they are posted, recalling the respect teachers commanded in communities in the past, noting that community members often consulted them before taking important decisions.

“In the olden days, before a community could take a decision about something, they would consult teachers. Let’s go back to that era,” he said.

Lending his voice, the Permanent Member IV of the Board, Hon. Akeem Balogun, admonished the teachers to be role models to the pupils and good ambassadors of SUBEB, urging them to understand and respect the boundaries of their responsibilities as they assume duty in their respective schools.

Also speaking, the Board Secretary, Mrs. Olubunmi Oso, urged the beneficiaries to add value to the lives of their learners and discharge their responsibilities diligently, advising them to understand what was expected of them and treat the pupils as their own children, while demonstrating care, commitment and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Olasoji Aderibigbe from Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area expressed appreciation to the Ogun State Government for providing them with the opportunity to serve the state.
