Woman, Two Hotel Staff Arrested Over Alleged Dumping of Deceased Man’s Body Under Abuja Bridge - The Alternative News

A woman identified as Mrs Rukayat Mohammed and two hotel staff members, identified as Ibrahim Omeiza and Kefas Bitrus, have reportedly been arrested following the death of a man who allegedly slumped in a hotel room while lodging with Mohammed at Good Samaritan Guest House in Gwarimpa, Abuja.

The two hotel workers were accused of removing the deceased’s body from the hotel and dumping it under Katampe Bridge along the Kubwa Expressway instead of reporting the incident to the police.

According to an account of the incident, Mohammed and the man had checked into the guest house when the man reportedly slumped and died while returning from the restroom.

Rather than immediately raising the alarm, Mohammed allegedly took the man’s phone and left the room.

Hotel staff members reportedly became suspicious when the occupants failed to check out at the scheduled time. They subsequently forced the door open and found the man’s lifeless body on the floor.

Instead of alerting the police, the two staff members allegedly removed the body from the hotel and dumped it under Katampe Bridge along the Kubwa Expressway.

The deceased’s family later reported him missing, prompting a police investigation.

Detectives reportedly used technical investigations to trace the man’s last phone communication to Mohammed, who was subsequently tracked down and arrested.

During questioning, Mohammed reportedly said the man had been experiencing health challenges and was taking medication.

Speaking to journalists in a video obtained by SaharaReporters, she confirmed that the man had slumped and died after visiting the restroom.

“I went with a man in the hotel. The man slumped and died,” she said.

Asked how the incident happened, Mohammed explained: “He went to the bedroom to ease himself (urinate). Coming back, he slumped and died.”

When asked whether the man had taken any drugs, she initially said he had not taken any but acknowledged that he had been ill.

She later confirmed that he was taking medication and said he had been taken to the National Hospital for treatment.

Asked why she left the room after the man slumped, Mohammed said she went outside with his phone in an attempt to contact someone who could be informed about the incident.

“I went outside to take his phone and if I can get any of his contacts to call them that something happened like this,” she said.

She added that she discovered she could not access his contacts on the phone.

The circumstances surrounding the man’s death, including the nature of his health challenges and the actual cause of death, remain unclear based on the account available to SaharaReporters.

Efforts by SaharaReporters to reach the spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, Josephine Adeh, for comments and an update on the incident were unsuccessful, as she neither answered calls nor responded to a message sent to her.
