Efficient management of the registry is paramount to ensuring operational excellence and safeguarding sensitive information.
Ogun State Head of Service (HoS), Mr. Kolawole Fagbohun, stated this while declaring open a two-day training programme, organised by the Bureau of Establishments and Training, for Record Officers in the state Civil Service, with the theme, "Effective Registry Management", at Oba's Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, describing the registry as the warehouse of records which should be accorded the deserved priority in the office structure.
Mr. Fagbohun observed that registry, as the lifeblood of any thriving business and organisations, was significant to data management, hence the need to train record officers for efficient service delivery.
"There is no denying the fact that most of the registries in the public service are archaic and require upgrading to modern and technology-driven; in the desire to pursue and upgrade, we must ensure effective management of existing ones", he said.
The HoS explained that the training would enhance the capacity of the personnel, urging participants to avail themselves of the opportunity to improve their knowledge.
In her address, the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Establishments and Training, Mrs. Bolaji Fajounbo, said the training was organised, in line with the need for participants to upscale their performance in registry management, adding that four training modules were carefully selected and would be taken by outstanding resource persons, who had practical experience in office management.
One of the resource persons and a retired Permanent Secretary in the state Civil Service, Alhaji Adekunle Adegbite, stated that, “registry is a live wire of any organisation; it therefore deserves a serious attention and the personnel must be trained”, enjoining participants to fully participate in all the sessions.
