In order to ensure unity, peace and tranquility in the country, the Ogun State Chairman of Good Governance Advocates(GoGA), Hon. Mudasiru Quardri Olanrewaju has called for roundtable dialogue amidst planned protest by some Nigerians as a result of hardship slated for Thursday, 1st, August to 10th August, 2024.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Amanda Oluwayemisi Shofoluwe and made available to online news platform, urged Nigerians, especially the youths to embrace constructive dialogue with the government as a way to end hardship.
GoGA Chairman added that, the Nation is yet to fully recover from the barbaric destruction and loss of lives experienced during the EndSARS protest, appealing to the Youths for a peaceful resolutions.
He stated that every demonstration ends with a roundtable discussion hence the need for the organisers of the planned protest to embrace diplomatic discussion with the government.
According to him, "Dialogue is the pathway to understanding and progress. Let us engage with our leaders respectfully and constructively to achieve the desired change meaningfully.
“Yes, protests have its place, but we must prioritize peaceful dialogue to ensure our voices are heard without causing harm to our States and Nation."
He advised the youths not to allow some disgruntled elements to use them to achieve a self centrism political agenda.
"We all witnessed how innocent lives and properties worth billions of Naira were lost during the so-called ENDSARS protest a few years ago in Lagos when a genuine agitation turned into violence
"There is need for us to thread softly with the development in Kenya and other similar incidents across the world where genuine agitations have resulted into loss of innocent lives and several properties destroyed." he said.
He noted the positive effects of some of the policies and programmes of President Bola Tinubu is beginning to manifest on the nation,
emphasising on just approved a new minimum wage for the civil servants, removal of the duties payable on essential food items, payment of student loans among other efforts by the government to put the economy back on track.
He appealed to Nigerians to be patient and continue to support Mr. President in his resolve to institute a sustainable economy model that will benefit all.
