The Commissioner revealed that SWAN had redefined Sports Journalism through their concerted efforts, especially in training the students on advanced specialised sports writing, stating that the initiative would engender professionalism.
Earlier in his address, the SWAN Chairman, Mr. Micheal Ogunsiji said the reason for celebrating the Day was to create awareness of sports around the world, commending Journalists who had made immeasurable sacrifices for sports coverage and reportage.
On his part, a former Vice President of SWAN, Deacon Kunle Oluwusi urged the students to be ready to face the challenges of the job, in order to succeed as sports writers in the future
