Ogun State Government has pledged its commitment to sustaining investment on Reproductive health policies and programmes, towards improving maternal and child health in the state. 

        The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker, disclosed this while playing host to an advocacy working group in the state, Family Health Initiative Ogun ( FAHIO ), led by its Chairperson, Mrs. Oluwakemi Balogun, in her office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta. 

       Dr. Coker said, the present administration in the state places premium on activities that would avert incidence of maternal mortality and child death, adding that attention of government on Family Planning and Adolescent health services was crucial for  the well-being and wellness of family, community and the state as a whole. 

   She revealed that the state had created budget line for family planning, with adequate supply of commodities and comsumbles to health facilities across the state, as well as subsidizing the self- injected contraceptive, DMPA-SC, pointing out that her ministry and the state Primary Healthcare Board would work out modalities in accessing the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund and Ogun State Health Insurance Scheme, to sustaining the efforts. 

      According to the Commissioner, the state government would not relent in its strides at promoting  family planning or child spacing activities because it serves as economic empowerment for women of child bearing age, with alot of derivable benefits. 

      Dr. Coker commended the advocacy drive of the group, towards strengthening the reproductive health system of the state. 

   Earlier in her presentation, Mrs. Balogun lauded the state government's efforts for priotizing the health sector, stating that support for family planning programmes is cost-effective, with positive impact on other sectors of the economy.
