FG SCORES OGUN HIGHER IN PROJECTS IMPLEMENTATION - THE ALTERNATIVE NEWS

 


The National Economic Council/Implementation Monitoring Committee, (NEC/IMC), with the Joint Planning Board /National Council on Development Planning, (JPB/NCDP), have rated Ogun State substantially higher in projects and programmes implementation of the NEC-JPD/NCDP’s resolutions.




The focal person of South-West part of the country who doubles as Oyo State Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Professor Babatunde Mufutau, who led the team, said that the assessment across the State was highly impressive, as the qualities and levels of projects and programmes executed in all thematic areas such as Infrastructure, Education, Health, Agriculture, Social Welfare and protection and others were laudable.



“The assessment to measure the extent of implementation of all resolution of meetings from year 2023 till date was to determine the evidence in activeness of States implementation of the NEC Resolution. We have had notable experiences in the past years in Ogun State and obviously, the development trend still continues without leaving anything or anyone behind. Quite impressive”, he said.



Among the projects assessed in healthcare were, the Ogun State Central Medical Store, Ogun State Public Health Laboratory, the Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) Oxygen Plant and the Electronic Medical Records System (EMRS), in hospitals. Rehabilitation of the Technical Colleges, reconstruction of roads, and construction of a single span bridge along Ijeja-Igbore road as well as redesigned Farmers’ Markets. A newly built Sexual Assault Referral Centres, (SARCs), Low-Cost Housing Estates, renovation and rehabilitation of sporting facilities across State, and many others.



Prof. Mufutau, credited the projects  benefits already designed by the State to reach more communities, revealing that speedboats, vehicles and bikes were already mobilised for water and land transportation in the State’s Central Medical Store.



He implored the State Government on the creation of budget maintenance to aid projects sustainability in the State, saying budget performance of the State has been highly impressive with all that was seen during assessment.



In his remark, Ogun State Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Olaolu Olabimtan, who played host, assured that areas identified for further improvements would be worked on for valuable and desirable benefits of the citizens.



He expressed satisfaction over the team’s commitment in the assessment of various projects in the State, saying that more were still ongoing and many would be commissioned soon.
