HAJJ 2025: OGUN PILGRIMS VISIT MORE HISTORICAL SITES IN MECCA - THE ALTERNATIVE NEWS

As the 2025 Hajj Pilgrimage continues with visits to holy sites, the first batch of pilgrims from Ogun State has visited more historical places in the city of Mecca.

Executive Secretary, Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Ajibola Taiwo, led the pilgrims to the historical sites, including Mount Tour, Mount Nur, Mount Arafat and Muzdalifah.

Ajibola highlighted the significance of the tour to pilgrims, noting that it would equip them with first hand information about the historical sites and allow them to see places they had read about in the holy Quran.

He applauded the support of the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for providing financial support to convey pilgrims to different sites in Medina and Mecca.

"We have to appreciate and give kudos to the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun who has made the journey stress- free for us. He paid for all the buses that conveyed all the pilgrims to different historical sites, and this is commendable," he added.

Speaking, Head of Operations/Religion of the Board, Imam Buhari Inakoju, said Mount Nur also known as Jabal Nur was the revered site where the Holy Quran was first revealed to Prophet Muhammad during the month of Ramadan, while mount Toor, otherwise known as Jabbal Toor, contained a notable cave where prophet Muhammad and Abubakr sought refuge for three days and nights from the Quaragsh before departing from Mecca to Medina (Hijra), a place which he said symbolises protection, faith and perseverance for all Muslim faithful.

Earlier, Imam, Sa'adatul Abbadiya Central Mosque, Abeokuta and a member of the Board, Immam lsmail Abdul–lateef, said prayers offered at the sites always get the nod of Almighty Allah, adding that this also underscores the essence of completion of Hajj Exercise.

In their separate remarks, two of the pilgrims, Alhaji lsiaka Salami and Alhaja Subedatu Banjo, explained that the historical sites deepened their understanding of Prophet Muhammad's Journey, saying the visit prepared them for the day of Arafat, expressing gratitude to the State Government support, including accommodation and food.
