Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has strongly condemned the spate of deadly attacks across Borno, Plateau, Kano, and Kebbi States, which claimed over 50 lives, calling for an urgent, people-focused approach to security in Nigeria.

In a statement shared via his official X handle on Saturday, Atiku described the incidents as a “devastating blow to our collective conscience as a nation,” and emphasized that such tragedies must not be normalized.

 “My deepest sympathies go to the bereaved families and the affected communities. These tragedies are not mere statistics; they are real stories of shattered families and stolen dreams,” he said.

“We cannot continue to normalise this scale of bloodshed.”

Atiku also expressed concern over what he called the continued silence and indifference of authorities, especially in Benue State and other regions persistently affected by violent attacks. He urged leaders at all levels to place human lives above political interests, warning that: “History will not be kind to those who chose power over people.”

The former Vice President reiterated his long-standing call for a decisive, inclusive, and humane security strategy that addresses both the root causes and the recurring violence affecting communities across Nigeria.
