No More War: Tinubu Reconciles Wike, Fubara, and Rivers Lawmakers - The Alternative News

President Bola Tinubu has successfully reconciled Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike; suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara; and members of the State House of Assembly. The peace resolution came after a closed-door meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday night.

According to Presidential Adviser Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu once again demonstrated his commitment to restoring peace in Rivers State. This follows an earlier intervention in December 2023 and his declaration of a State of Emergency on March 18, 2025, amid deepening political tensions in the state.

Participants in the latest peace talks included Fubara, Wike, and Speaker Martins Chike Amaewhule. A source confirmed that the parties have resolved their differences, with Tinubu being formally briefed of the truce.

Recall that the crisis stemmed from a power struggle between Wike and Fubara, leading to the suspension of the governor, his deputy Ngozi Odu, and members of the State Assembly. Tinubu had also appointed Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas (Rtd) as interim administrator to manage the state's affairs.
