The Plateau State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 22 suspects linked to the gruesome killing of 12 wedding guests in Mangu Local Government Area on June 20, 2025.

According to police, an angry mob intercepted the vehicle, forcibly stopped it, and set it ablaze, killing several passengers and injuring others.
In a statement issued Saturday, Command Public Relations Officer Alabo Alfred detailed the incident and the swift response by law enforcement.
“Upon receipt of this intelligence, the Commissioner of Police, Plateau State Command, immediately directed the Divisional Police Officer, Mangu Division, to mobilize men and swiftly race to the scene,” the statement said.

He has since ordered the deployment of:
State Intelligence Department (SID) operatives for surveillance and intelligence gathering, State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) detectives for a full probe,Tactical Teams and operational assets to ensure security and assist in tracking down additional suspects.
“The Commissioner assures the good and peace-loving people of Plateau State that the Command is working within its constitutional mandate to ensure that all those involved in this inhuman act are brought to justice,” the statement added.
Police also issued a stern warning against mob action and vigilante justice, urging the public, particularly the youth—to avoid taking the law into their own hands.
For emergencies or to report suspicious activities, the Command provided the following hotlines:
📞 07059473022, 08038907662, 08075391844, and 09053872296.
