Activist and lawyer Deji Adeyanju has fired back at former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, over his recent claim that Muhammadu Buhari’s 12 million core supporters were solely responsible for his 2015 presidential victory.
Reacting via a post on X, Adeyanju described Buhari as a “serial loser like Atiku Abubakar” who would not have defeated former President Goodluck Jonathan without the broad support of a coalition of political actors, including Bola Tinubu, Atiku, and several defecting PDP governors.
“The statement of Boss Mustapha… is beyond delusional; it is an attempt to re-write history,” Adeyanju said.
“The coalition won the 2015 election — not Buhari.”
He emphasized that the 2015 victory was the product of a national political alliance, not merely Buhari’s personal popularity, and cited external influences, including international pressure and public sentiment that believed in the APC’s promise of “change.”
Mustapha had made his remarks during the unveiling of Garba Shehu’s new book, According to the President, where he argued that Buhari’s existing support base only needed the APC merger to bring in an additional three million votes.
Adeyanju, however, insists that the coalition was the game-changer, warning against any historical revisionism.
